Big fish and a broken camera
So Sat was my brother Eric's company's Fishing Day on Strawberry Res. Erika was feeling sick Sat at 4:30 AM when we were getting ready to leave so she stayed home with Miles and Eric and I went together. We rented a boat in the Soldier Creek Marina and started trolling up and down the shorelines. Eric started catching Cutthroats right away with his green flat fish, 3 about 16 - 18 inches long. So finally I made him let me take a turn with his flatfish and after a few minutes I caught my lunker. 22" Cutthroat shown in picture below. It was a good day on the Strawb. Well, until we started back to the marina around noon, and I forgot to put Erika's camera back in its case. I left it on the boat bench seat and the vibrating boat going full speed made it slide off and fall into a bucket of bloody fish water where it sat for 15 minutes until we got back to the marina. After I got home I took it apart as much as I could and I let the lens and CCD sit in rice to pull the moisture out. Sunday I put it back together and it totally works fine! Well, the lense still has some moisture in it, so the pictures it takes are fuzzy, but it functions perfect! It smells like fish still, but it works. I love Sony cameras! So, if the lens never starts taking good pictures again I can buy a new one of those off ebay for like $50 and it should be fine. $50 is better than $280 for a new camera though!

McCain Vows To Replace Secret Service With His Own Bare Fists
For some reason I think these Onion video clips are about the funniest thing I've ever seen. Go to The Onion and then go to Video Clips for more.

The Things That Come in the Night
Last night on L & D we were super busy and running around like crazy when we got a call from the ED that they were bringing in a lady by ambulance who was 8 months pregnant and in labor. She gets there and one of our MA's was having a hard time finding fetal heart tones and could only find the mom's heart rate, so she calls us in a panic to come in and help. We're thinking now we've got a dead baby on our hands, which is enough to ruin anyone's night, and the doctor brings in an ultrasound machine to see what's happening with the baby and find its heart rate.
The patient tells us she's been feeling her baby move a lot, tells us who her OB is, etc. After a minute of looking with the ultrasound the MD declares, "There's no pregnancy here- you're not pregnant," to which the patient calmly responds, "Oh." The doctor asks, "What brought you in to the hospital tonight?" The patient states, "I got depressed and drank two liters of soda." With a quick "Alright then!" we packed her up and sent her down to the emergency dept- I'm still not sure for what (gas bubbles?). Night shifts are always more fun when the crazies show up.
